Becker Acroma, manufacturer of the Parquet Floor Protection Range, is showing their support for education in the flooring sector by sponsoring FITA, the Flooring Industry Training Association.

The sponsorship started in March and reflects Becker Acroma's beliefs in the value of formal training and the work that FITA does Becker Acroma will have a visible presence with banners and literature at both FITA training centres; Loughborough in Leicestershire and Nelson in Lancashire; as well as a personal presence on relevant training days

"At Becker Acroma we are firm believers in investing in our staff for the long term benefit it offers both to us and the employee".

"Fully trained staff are an asset to any company and the initial outlay for training them is repaid in the new skills they offer," said Jonathan Robson, managing director at Becker Acroma.

"We are delighted to be working with FITA to support newcomers to the flooring industry".

"Good skills in applying lacquers are vital for getting the most out of the products you are using with maximum cost effectiveness and efficiency".

When finishing wooden floors, speed can be gained and costs can be improved by using the right techniques.

Becker Acroma offers the following tips:.

* Wherever possible, use a primer such as Parquet Prime.

A primer:.

- increases the durability of the floor.

- is a lower cost product and reduces the number of coats of lacquer required.

- is typically faster drying than a coat of lacquer.

- saves you money.

* Use a lacquer that's up to the job.

For most areas, Becker Acroma's Parquet One is ideal, but for extremely high foot traffic, we recommend Parquet Performance which offers two- pack durability in a one pack or Parquet Pro, our two-pack system.

* Offer a cleaning regime to your customers; Becker Acroma's Parquet Pro Cleaner, Polish and Refresher are ideal for prolonging the life of a floor, and could even gain you an extra visit to the customer.

The Parquet Floor Protection Range of water-based high performance lacquers is manufactured in the UK at Becker Acroma's base in Suffolk and is distributed throughout Europe.
