BEAMA joins Aqua Europa
BEAMA has joined Aqua Europa as a full member, with specific emphasis on the priorities of its Domestic Water Treatment Association.
BEAMA Association Director, Kelly Butler, commented: "This is a very important strategic move for BEAMA, and particularly the Domestic Water Treatment Association (DWTA) - Aqua Europa is recognised by the European Commission as the representative body for the water supply chain of the European water and wastewater industry".
"Our involvement with Aqua Europa gives us the strength to influence policy makers and the standardisation process for water related issues - particularly related to domestic chemical water treatment.
"One of our key priorities is to support Aqua Europa's Task Group tackling technical issues regarding water treatment".
"The time is right to seek a single market position on water treatment and promote best practice standards for product performance".
"In the UK, we have championed this approach through the BuildCert standard.
It is now time to explore a broader EU consensus on standardisation for product performance and the approach to water treatment generally".
Aqua Europa's Acting Secretary-General, David Neill-Gallacher said: "Industry representation in Brussels is a challenging and frequently daunting process.
Representative bodies operating at that level depend on strong and resourceful national member associations".
"Aqua Europa is very considerably strengthened by the addition of a large and established organisation like BEAMA with its extensive and diverse membership, and long history of experience of industry representation and market support.".
