BEAMA and the Residential Ventilation Association to develop a new CPD seminar called 'How to Design, Install and Commission Domestic Ventilation Systems'.

Part of the ventilation industry's SAP Appendix Q commitment to BRE and the Energy Saving Trust, the seminar is targeted towards on site ventilation contractors and system designers with the objective of ensuring that ventilation strategies deliver both required air quality performance and energy benefits without being compromised by poor design and installation Commenting on the new seminar, BEAMA Association Director Kelly Butler says "As the government pushes towards zero carbon homes and ever tighter new dwellings, it is essential that ventilation systems work properly and are designed in to the building at an early stage"

"This new seminar gives clear guidance for house builders and their contractors and is the industry's firm commitment to drive up standards in the new build sector".

"The seminar also gives a risk assessment of what can go wrong if poor design and installation practice goes unchecked".

Tom Dee, Chairman of the RVA says, "For many years manufacturers have been producing ventilation products and systems to meet ever demanding operating conditions, but to many people, ventilation meant simply opening a window".

"However with rising fuel prices, opening a window is no longer an option".

"For the health and well being of the occupants, protection of the building fabric and meeting Building Regulations, a correctly installed ventilation system is required".

"This new industry seminar describes the various ventilation options, the specific installation requirements and commissioning procedures in an easily understood manner".

The seminar is available from BEAMA and RVA members.

Housebuilders, MandE consultants and contractors are urged to contact their ventilation supplier for more details.
