Biggest Bell user in the Midlands gets bigger
Bell Equipment UK's biggest customer in the Midlands has added another five Bell articulated dump trucks to its hire fleet.
Starting out in 1997 with a Bell B30B, Mr Rawson has steadily upgraded his Bell machines on a rolling exchange basis, and is currently operating two B30Ds.
The 30-tonne machines are used to shift limestone rock from the quarry face to the crusher, in addition to soil and muck shifting.
Each truck hauls up to 8,000 tonnes of material per week.
Mr Rawson said: "The Bell machines are very reliable.
But, when we need it, the back-up is brilliant.
We get a very quick response from Bell - they quite often turn up within about one-and-a-half hours of the call-out.
I just can't fault the back-up or the availability of spare parts".
The speed of response from Bell's after-sales team is not the only thing to have impressed Mr Rawson.
"The payload is good on them, their fuel economy is excellent, the cabs are very driver-friendly and they're very competitively priced," he said.
"They're also very versatile for us, as we need to shift both muck and stone.
We've had no problems working with the hard rock and, with the Bells, you get a good tip into the crusher chute".
Mr Rawson added: "When it comes to replacing them, the Bell's also have a good residual value.
That's one of the reasons why we've kept on going back".
Ian Cobden, regional sales manager for Staffordshire-based Bell Equipment UK, said: "Bell machines are known across the industry for their superior fuel-efficiency, so it's encouraging to know that our customers recognise we tick so many other boxes to such a high standard.
"It's also fantastic that we've been able to impress the guys at Grange Mill to such an extent that they keep coming back to us.
There can be no better advert for our quality and service.".
