Operations Director appointment at BBA

The BBA announce the appointment of Martyn Reed as Operations Director with responsibility for Inspections and Certification.

The BBA announce the appointment of Martyn Reed as Operations Director with responsibility for Inspections and Certification Martyn has worked with the BBA since 2001 when he joined us to run the FENSA inspection arrangements and to identify and develop other certification-related opportunities arising from the introduction of harmonised European Standards - and the development of the ISO 9000 series of standards

FENSA developed very quickly to become the most successful of the first set of Competent Persons Schemes authorised by the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and there is no doubt that Martyn's hard work and organisational skills have helped make it so.

From a standing start he recruited the inspectors necessary to do the surveillance work, organised the IT infrastructure necessary to handle the allocation of inspections and present the FENSA roadshows which took the message out to window and door installers throughout England and Wales.

Martyn has now added the ELECSA scheme to his list of responsibilities.

Already well ahead of target, the list of firms applying for registration grows daily and Martyn's new team of electrical assessors is undertaking evaluations of these contractors.

Aside from his Competent Persons Schemes activities, Martyn runs the BBA's inspectors carrying out site and factory surveillance related to products approved by the BBA, installation of injected cavity wall insulation under our Approved Installer Scheme and ISO 9001 registration.

Certification work in relation to ISO 9001 and harmonised European Standards is also going well, although progress in the latter area is dictated by the output rate of the various European Committees drafting the standards, but where standards have been agreed and published, in areas where the BBA has the necessary equipment, experience and expertise, it has been able to offer appropriate services to the industry.
