BBA offers approval to cavity wall assessors

A British Board of Agrement product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 26, 2009

The British Board of Agrement offers an approval scheme for injected cavity walls and assessors of the system.

The scheme has been developed to include the approval of the installer for more than 35 years.

Analysis by the BBA has revealed that the assessors who survey properties prior to insulation being installed are a key link in the quality chain but are not included in the approval process.

The scheme is designed to solve the issue of inconsistencies of approach and reporting from different assessors.

To qualify for approval, the assessors spend a full day with a BBA inspector assessing numerous properties ranging in size and build type, and complete the approved surveillance reports for each property.

A report is then produced and sent to the applicant, if approved they will be logged on the BBA website, receive a certificate and an identification badge indicating approval.

The assessors will be monitored subsequently by the BBA via 12 monthly surveillance.
