BIFM energy position paper calls for greater FM involvement in design, construction and management of buildings.
The remaining Board Directors will be drawn from the full member national associations that will join the organisation and will, when appointed, represent the other regions of the world based typically upon the regional trade structures.
This will ensure that the organisation truly reflects the diverse cultures, priorities and understanding of facilities management across the world.
The Board will now be able to formally engage with those national associations across the world who have already declared expressions of interest of joining Global FM.
Of equal importance, The Board will be able to engage with many emerging associations who wish to receive the support and mentoring that Global FM will offer.
This will cultivate and develop facilities management as a professional discipline and effective sector across the world.
Under the articles of association the membership structure of Global FM is as follows: Full Members - existing national associations Associate Members - this category of membership is categorised into three sub groups: Correspondent member - emerging organisations wishing to become a national association Sustaining partner - bodies or individuals wishing to support the aims of Global FM Affiliate member - organisations interested in supporting Global FM The Global FM Board is currently formalising the process of membership in order to fully engage with those organisations of all categories that have already declared an interest in becoming involved.
A 'public square' workshop will take place on 11 October 2006 alongside the IFMA World Workplace event being held in San Diego, USA.
At this workshop Global FM will bring together its existing and prospective membership groups in order to ensure that they are fully engaged and influential in terms of the prioritisation and development of the longer term Global FM business plan.
Expressions of interest to attend will be encouraged between now and that date from any interested party.
The emergence of Global FM onto the world forum will bridge the gap that exists and is seen to be 'business critical' within the sector to facilitate and drive forward the awareness, development and influence of facilities management at international level.
This in turn will support the national association agenda's and indeed the value of collaboration and communication to their respective memberships.
