British Woodworking Federation Members Day

A British Woodworking Federation product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Apr 8, 2008

Training is the main topic for the event and with the programme's emphasis on empowering, informing and involving, BWF members can expect to come away with some new and inspirational ideas.

With an exciting new format and an impressive line-up of speakers and workshops, this year's British Woodworking Federation Members' Day on Friday, 13 June is shaping up to be a great day.

Guest speakers for the Main Session so far include Mike Marchant of UK Wood Chain, the standard setting body for the UK wood sector, and Shamim Stokes, Leadership Development Manager for Phones 4 U who will share the training and development philosophies of one of the UK's fastest growing mobile telephone businesses.

Afternoon Workshops, always a popular element of BWF members' Day, will not only delve deeper into this theme of - Training, but also cover technical issues, sustainable construction and business management through interactive sessions run by experts from Defra, Glass and Glazing Federation, Construction Products Association and others.- providing the opportunity for discussion and the exchange of ideas.

And for the first time, this year's Members' Day will include team building activities and a social event to round off the day's programme.

Archery, five-a-side football and four-way Tug-a-Rope will give delegates the opportunity to relax, and even flex their muscles, before an evening barbecue - all in the historic and luxurious setting of Ragley House, Warwickshire.

With this choice of venue, the BWF is extending its invitation to delegates' partners who can enjoy the Ragley House attractions during the day and join the social gathering in the evening.

There are number of booking options including a 3 for 2 Saver package for the day's programme and a Bring-a-Partner package which includes an overnight stay.

BWF chief executive Richard Lambert is confident that members will be keen to participate in this new style event.

"The members we have spoken to about our plans for Members' Day have been very enthusiastic indeed".

"The choice of Ragley Hall gave us a great opportunity to turn Members' Day into something much more - the programme we are planning will be stimulating, the speakers thought-provoking and the team building events will be sociable and fun".

"This new formula is already attracting interest and we expect record numbers".
