Hot topics at this year's Homebuilding and Renovating Show were legislation and 'how to' questions and answers about practical joinery applications.

Property developers, housebuilders, architects and DIYers eagerly approached the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) team with building legislation and joinery questions over the course of the four-day Show, taking good advantage of the expert advice on hand BWF marketing director, Ruth Soundarajah says "Many of the enquiries on the stand related to Part L regulations"

"It is clear that energy efficiency is an important consideration for housebuilders and wood as a material lends itself well for this purpose, particularly when it comes to windows".

The BWF team also gave practical advice on where to find good joinery manufacturers, external and internal joinery applications, paint maintenance, low maintenance cladding and the range and choice of wood windows available.

"Building legislation, sustainably sourced joinery products and questions like 'which joinery company can I rely on to install my stairs?'' may not be the sexiest topics at a show brimming with examples of beautiful design, but it is these issues that really matter to Show visitors".

"The BWF was there to provide answers and represent our members" says Ruth Soundarajah, She added that it was no surprise they sold out of the BWF Specifier's Guide.

The definitive guide to joinery and woodworking, it lists the products, specialist skills and services provided by BWF members.

The BWF participated as an expert on 'External Design' at one of the Show's 'Spotlight' features, which were dedicated areas where information and advice was provided by independent experts on a one-to-one basis.

Wood was well represented at the show with Wood Window Alliance (WWA) members JELD-WEN and Ventrolla also participating.
