Blucher UK has just launched a unique guide to the use of stainless steel drainage in the healthcare sector.

The 16-page guide to the use of stainless steel drainage in the healthcare sector contains a wealth of information for the specifier, and contains a list of over 230 hospitals which have installed Blucher drainage systems over the past five years In researching the document, Blucher commissioned a study by the Building Performance Group, specialists in whole-life costing, to determine which drainage material represented best value over 30 and 50-year design lives

Basing the study on a typical PFI hospital design, BPG's overwhelming conclusion was that Blucher's EuroPipe represented best value in both cases.

Maintenance and operating costs over a building's design life are typically 5 and 200 times that of initial capital cost.

In a hospital, these factors can be even higher.

The UK healthcare sector's determination to discard the principle of "lowest tender" in favour of "design life" costing has shown how stainless steel drainage can help to make significant savings in both cost areas.

The Blucher range of stainless steel drainage products and systems including EuroPipe stainless steel pipework, floor drains and channels have already been installed in over 250 UK hospitals and many more worldwide.

Blucher EuroPipe is being increasingly specified because installers and clients find that it is light and easy to install, space saving, durable, resistant to corrosive liquids and build-up of waste, requires virtually no maintenance and obviates the need for fire stops between floors.

It is also easy to cut on site and is widely acknowledged as the best product for use in hygiene areas.

With floor drains, channels, grates and pipework available in a wide range of stock sizes, Blucher products look good wherever they are used.

Using Europe's leading manufacturing techniques, bespoke sizes can also be commissioned to meet any design specification.
