No further changes to prEN 14351-1say experts
Product Standard prEN 14351-1:2005 covering windows and pedestrian doorsets without fire resistance is unlikely to undergo any further changes in technical content.
The company specialises in machining bespoke timber products and is able to produce any profile that clients require - for doors, windows, skirtings, architraves, cladding, decking and a myriad other applications.
Customers include local and national construction companies, joinery manufacturers and both independent and national merchant chains.
Another company strength is that Christie Timber will source any commercially available species, either softwood or hardwood, which a customer requires.
As Managing Director Jim Harwood explained, 'Having all three chain of custody schemes means that we can be eminently flexible in sourcing timber on demand.
We do hold stock, to enable us to service our larger customers on a just in time basis, but much of our work is specialised and we never know what the next 'phone call will bring.' The company decided to pursue certification, not only because it wanted to be able to respond to client demand for certified timber, but also to reinforce its own concern for the future of the planet's forest resources.
As a business which has set great store by reliability and reputation over the years, it was important to underline its commitment to the environment.
Christie Timber was established some 12 years ago and employs around 30 staff at its modern factory, equipped with two high-volume Weinig planer/moulders, as well as planers, band saws and single end tenon machines.
It operates two shifts 'from early to very late', Mr Harwood added, to ensure that deadlines are always met.
'There is no point producing quality mouldings if they don't reach the site on time.'.
