Pupils from Haveley Hey Primary School in Benchill given sneak preview of their new state-of-the-art school premises by Bramall Construction, the Salford-based company behind the build.

Bramall Construction was awarded the GBP5.8m contract in February last year to build the new facility via Manchester City Council's Framework One partnering arrangement With the first stage of the project complete, pupils were given a guided tour

Helping the school children to get acquainted with their impressive new surroundings, Bob Hanlon the project manager from Bramall Construction took them for a tour around their classrooms and answered their questions about the top of the range facilities.

Featuring colourful and uplifting design and quality external landscaping, the development will serve to inspire both pupils and teachers, whilst high specification throughout and innovative use of space will enhance the school's ability to perform to a higher standard, thus helping to fulfil the aspirations of the school.

Built to an exceptional standard, Bramall Construction even managed to preserve a part of the old school by carefully removing and relaying the school crest into the main entrance.

Throughout the project, Bramall has helped to instil a sense of ownership into the children by running a series of initiatives, including art competitions and talks about the importance of health and safety on the building site.

Bramall also held a ceremony for the burial of a school time capsule, which contained a number of memorable items such as school photographs, school badges, a school newspaper and some examples of the children's work.

"Bramall are to be commended for the manner in which they supported the Council in delivering the Project via Framework One, following its removal from the PFI Group Scheme.

The Project Team have worked hard to deliver a challenging and complex design that has raised the barrier in terms of wow factor, in fact it literally has the 'X' factor.

A number of visitors have already commented on the colourful and uplifting design, the innovative use of space and the quality of the external landscaping," said Bernard Core, Framework One Programme Manager.

The next stage of the project, which is due to commence imminently, will see Bramall embark upon the demolition of the former school premises to make way for an amphitheatre and new sports facilities including a football pitch and netball courts.

Commenting on the completion of the main school building, Bob Hanlon said: "From the early stages of the project it was very obvious to us how the staff and Governors desperately wanted their vision of what has been presented to them to become a reality for the pupils and community of Haveley Hey.

"As a team and through combined commitment and a passion to succeed we have delivered exactly what we set out to do.

"We are very proud to have been involved in this project and we look forward to the future successes of the school".

Lesley Maddock, head teacher at Haveley Hey, adds: "The exciting moment has arrived! The children, staff and Governors and community of the area have the school building they so richly deserve.

I can speak on behalf of all these people when I say how marvellous it is to see our long awaited dream become a reality.

"The school was designed carefully and thoughtfully and the construction carried out with precision and efficiency.

I am indeed proud to be the head teacher of Haveley Hey, ready to work with all involved to truly fulfil the vision for this school and our children, in a spectacular environment.".
