Paper Recycler moves to Bobcat
Skid-Steers

Barloworld Handling has supplied three new top-of-the-range Bobcat S300 skid-steers to Ideal Waste Paper Co, the largest privately owned wastepaper merchants in the UK.

Barloworld Handling Limited has supplied three new top-of-the-range Bobcat S300 skid-steers to Ideal Waste Paper Co, the largest privately owned wastepaper merchants in the UK Working at the two adjacent Ideal Waste Paper recycling plants in Bermondsey in South London, the new S300s have replaced skid-steers from another manufacturer for this demanding application

Wastepaper is delivered throughout the day on Ideal's own fleet of vehicles including bulk container lorries and specialist waste recycling vehicles.

The wastepaper is unloaded and sorted by the Bobcat skid-steers, which work 8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week.

The compact nature and small turning circles of the S300 skid-steers ensure they can perform more efficiently and much faster than wheeled loaders in the tight confines of the paper recycling plants at Ideal Waste Paper.

The S300s are used to sort various different grades of wastepaper and load it onto conveyers feeding baling machines for conversion into graded bales for customers.

To meet the demands of this tough application, the lift arms on the S300 are made from 8 mm thick steel and the loader arm section is nearly 95 mm wide.

For optimum protection, the auxiliary, lift and bucket tilt hoses are routed through the inside of the lift arms.

As well as an excellent safeguard, this also enhances the aesthetic aspect of the machine.

Simon Scott, Director of Ideal Waste Paper Co, said: "The Bobcat S300s have been designed for working indoors in high temperatures in this arduous application".

"The machines they replaced suffered from overheating problems and were not strong enough for the application, often suffering from ruptured seals and leaks." The S300s are equipped as standard with the unique Bob-Tach system, which allows attachments to be fitted securely to the machines in seconds.

Each machine is equipped with precisely matched Bobcat industrial fork and grapple attachments.

The S300 has a dump height of 2517 mm and a dump reach at maximum height of 859 mm.

The dump angle of 41.9deg makes it easy for the operator to unload the paper held in the attachment.

With an operating weight of 3832 kg, the S300 is the flagship model in the Bobcat range of skid-steers.

It has a tipping load of 2772 kg and a rated operating capacity of 1362 kg.

Part of the Bobcat family of vertical lift path skid-steers, the S300 is powered by the Kubota V3300-DI turbo-charged diesel engine rated at 58 kW and offering an engine torque of 295 Nm.

The S300 offers two speed ranges, a working speed of 10.6 km/h and a travel speed of 18.5 km/h for fast cycle times in lift-and-carry work.

The new S300 skid-steers are fully supported by Barloworld Handling Limited, of Thurrock in Essex, the official Bobcat dealer for London, Hertfordshire, Kent, Sussex and East Anglia.

"We have an excellent deal with Barloworld which includes 8 service visits a year for each skid-steer," said Simon Scott.

Ideal Waste Paper Co was founded over 35 years ago.
