BPT Security Systems (UK) of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, has launched Hoasis - a new home automation system.

BPT Security Systems (UK) of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, has launched Hoasis - a new home automation system.

Best known for its quality, stylish door entry and access control equipment, Hoasis is BPT's first multifunctional terminal designed to make home automation an affordable reality.

Hoasis interacts with and controls up to 48 different timers via miniaturized interface devices installed around the home.

This allows for full control of up to 255 outputs from devices, including lighting, temperature, gate automation, irrigation, awning and shutter automation and even gas and water leak control.

The miniaturised devices allow the system to interface with the traditional controls usually used in homes to manually operate these devices, so no special equipment is required.

Up to 255 inputs can be connected such as push buttons, sensors etc to control the devices.

As with all BPT equipment, Hoasis has been designed to be both easy to use and install.

Installation is carried out using BPT's X-UP bus which has been created to optimise cable runs (up to 1000m) and to connect all devices by wiring them with a simple non polarised twisted pair that is not restricted to present routes.

All Hoasis functions are programmed directly from an intuitive, simple to use touch screen unit which features a generously sized back lit display.

Thus up to 100 lights can be pre programmed to come on at certain times in certain areas - great for garden lighting - and the dimmer switch can be controlled; a garden irrigation system can be operated cost-effectively, ensuring the right amount of water is delivered to each area; temperatures can be controlled in up to 20 areas, adjustable for every hour, for energy efficiency; and awnings and roller shutters can be opened and closed to coincide with daylight hours.

Furthermore, Hoasis comes with 16 programmable scenarios to operate the home owner's chosen selection of features for when they enter or leave the building or for when they retire to bed.

The 'exit' programme can even be interlinked with the gas and water supply to automatically cut it off - an ingenious safety measure to help prevent leaks when the premises are empty, however the valves to do this must be installed by a registered engineer.

Up to three Hoasis terminals can be installed on any individual system.

This design is both highly convenient for the home owner and, according to BPT, there are considerable cost savings compared to installing external timer devises.

Janine Solloway, Sales and Marketing Director for BPT Security Systems (UK), is 100% committed to the company's move into the home automation field: "Technology in the home no longer stops at home entertainment systems.

Through our door entry equipment, we have already seen the widespread acceptance and adoption of domestic high tech security.

Home automation is a natural progression - it brings together many of these elements into a cost-effective means of automating these and other systems.

When you consider how busy people's lives are these days, home automation makes sense: it's convenient, helps simplify our lives and brings added comfort.

For the first time, the dream of a home that responds to commands is a cost-effective reality.
