New rising bollards from BPT provide effective vehicle access control
"Although BPT Automation has a network of approved agents, all of whom offer excellent advice and are extremely experienced in their own right," states Andy Cooke, Sales Support Manager at BPT Automation, "customers can still call BPT direct to get the latest information on what's available and what is the most appropriate and cost-effective solution to their particular requirement." However, there are some general guidelines that customers can follow, claims the company.
For general, low security business use, BPT Automation recommends electro hydraulic barriers, such as the MEC 900, which come with a range of beams up to 8.2m.
They are cost-effective, easy to install, designed for continualheavy duty use, quick to open and can be operated by most access control systems.

BPT Entry Control Solutions has had its System 300 video door entry and Impro16 proximity access control systems installed by Tailored Fire and Security into Manchester's Great Northern Tower.
Safety can be provided by either photocells or induction loops.
If companies wish to restrict pedestrians from entering underneath the barrier, a skirt can be easily fitted to the underside of it.
For higher security requirements, BPT Automation recommends gates and railings to keep vehicles and pedestrians out.
Many of BPT Automation's agents either manufacture or supply gates with the range of electro mechanical sliding gate operators - such as the MEC 200 or the heavyweight FIBO 400 - for sliding gates up to 4000kg.
For swing gates the electro-hydraulic MEC 800 can automate heavy-duty gates up to 1800kg and 5m each leaf, making it one of the hardest working operators on the market.
Bollards are also an important consideration for higher security sites where there are valuable items, as they help prevent ram raids.
BPT's Strabuc Armoured is a tough, fully retractable electro hydraulic rising bollard that is ideal for this purpose.
With a post diameter of 275mm and 12mm wall thickness, it risesrising to a height of 700mm., iIt comes complete with integrated warning lights and security lock.
Activation can be by radio transmitter or most other access devices.
Rising bollards are particularly well suited to retailers, such as car show rooms, as in the day time the bollards are lowered, so the access is not restricted.
Even when upright, the bollards allow easy pedestrian access, so customers looking in through showrooms windows still have a good view.
Another advantage - an aesthetic one - of both the Strabuc and the MEC 900 for commercial and retail customers is that they can be supplied in any RAL colour to suit the organisation's corporate styleimage.
BPT Automation equipment can be integrated with Impro access control systems - also available from the company - for total control and visibility of vehicle and personnel movement.
By combining the two, customers can have an extremely easy to use, yet effective, system with barriers and gates accessed by presenting a valid tag to the reader either by a hand held remote control or automatically by the vehicle's own transmitter.
A Vehicle's' location can also then be monitored on site using the same Impro access control system which can also grant personnel access to the building.
Customers wishing to find specific solutions to their individual vehicular access control requirements can call BPT Automation.
