Due to demand for Atlas Stone landscaping products, significant investment is being made to boost production levels and supply new product lines.

Following last year's installation of a new CMS 2000 plant, the capacity of the machine is being expanded This automated process line for the production of wet cast paving replaced an antiquated line involving heavy manual handling operations

A new building is now being constructed to increase curing capacity, enabling the machine to run 24 hours a day with the current single shift system doubling to two 12 hour shifts per day.

Atlas Stone Works Manager, John Mackie, explains: "The timing of this new project is crucial to the coming season and our ability to increase capacity and guarantee supply of our highly successful Canterbury range, following its increase in sales of almost 40% in the last year." Responding to the boom in the use of surface landscaping materials, the launch of the new Atlas range of decorative aggregates, cobbles and rockery products, has led to an additional investment of a third of a million pounds in a new packing facility for the materials.

The new aggregates plant includes state of the art facilities for packing decorative aggregates into 25 kilo Mini Bags and 10 kilo Micro Bags.

The fully automated operation fills the bags and, using a robotic arm, loads them onto pallets ready for despatch.

For stockists this means convenience because Atlas has become a one-stop shop for a whole range of products.

Instead of just offering traditional paving, walling and edging, it is now able to supply mixed loads that include bagged decorative aggregates and cages of rockery stone which are a key component of many of today's landscaping schemes.

Backing this is a range of point-of-sale material, including a weatherproof 5ft x 3ft stockist board which focuses on the aggregates range.
