Brett Landscaping offers CPD on kerb safety system

A Brett Landscaping product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 10, 2010

Brett Landscaping has developed a RIBA Approved CPD presentation entitled; 'Designing for Specialist Containment Kerbs'.

Designed to inform architects, engineers and other specifiers on the issues surrounding specialist kerb systems and the role that they play as a passive safety feature, helping to minimise risk for all users of the public highway.

Brett's Trief containment kerb system provides a clear physical warning to drivers of vehicles which are straying from the highway, prompting them to take immediate evasive action by steering away.

The kerb's concave recess 'traps' the bulge in tyre sidewalls, preventing vehicles from climbing up the kerb and ensuring that they do not leave the carriageway.

Since its introduction, the Trief system has been delivering high levels of vehicle and pedestrian protection and is widely recognised as having made a substantial contribution to British road safety.

Uses include traffic segregation, toll booth islands, splitter islands, pedestrian refuges, verge and edge protection, structure protection, bridge protection and roundabouts.

The CPD presentation uses examples and case studies to discuss the various uses and the correct application of containment kerbs in urban design.

Brett Landscaping, one of the leading providers of hard landscaping products in the UK, has developed a range of permeable pavement products for domestic, commercial and public sector use.
