Isover launches revolutionary ductwork system
New ductwork system from Saint-Gobain Isover replaces the traditional sheet metal and insulation approach with rigid insulation boards but still meets thermal, fire and acoustic regulations.
The barracks refurbishment is being carried out by Emmaus, a worldwide charity that currently has 12 centres in the UK.
These help homeless people to get back on their feet by providing them with a home and work, helping them to regain their confidence and dignity and make a new start in their communities.
Isover APR 1200 is a high-performance acoustic blanket designed to provide high levels of non-combustible sound insulation in internal party walls and floors.
Phase one of the refurbishment is now complete, with seven rooms available for occupation.
Once fully completed early next year the former Derby Barracks will provide residential accommodation plus recreational and living space for 21 people.
There are also plans to include a retail unit selling household goods and furniture donated by local residents and businesses as the aim of Emmaus is for the centre to become financially self-sufficient as soon as possible.
To keep costs to a minimum, the management team at Emmaus are doing all the repairs and refurbishment themselves and this is where CRASH's help and support have proved valuable.
Chris Mayer, Emmaus' business manager, said: "Projects like ours at Bolton are deeply indebted for donations of material such as this recent further help from Isover".
"We would like to thank Isover and all CRASH patrons who have helped us to the tune of approximately £40,000 in the past 10 months".
Isover marketing manager Gerry Mitchell said: "We have been donating Isover insulation products to CRASH projects for several years now".
"As a leading producer in the construction industry, we are very happy to have the opportunity to support a charity in our own market sector.".
