British Gypsum has launched a unique 4-tapered edge Arteco Gyptone ceiling board that allows very high quality monolithic acoustic ceilings to be created in prestige areas, where aesthetics are crucial The new board is the result of a technological breakthrough by British Gypsum and a sister company in Denmark, which allows a taper to be created along all four edges of the board, rather than just the normal two long edges

British Gypsum say 'Think sound - think blue'
Think sound-think blue', is the latest message from British Gypsum following a move to standardise the face colour of all products in the company's Gyproc SoundBloc acoustic board range.
The new design allows normal tape and fill jointing techniques to be used at all board joints, creating a ceiling that is flat in all directions - critical where omni-directional lighting is used.
Perforated acoustic boards, such as Gyptone, have traditionally presented a challenge to jointers, because of the relatively limited distance available between the board edge and the start of the perforated area, in which to create the joint.
Creating an all-round taper simplifies the jointing process and has been estimated to reduce jointing time, and therefore cost, by around 15-18%.
The choice of eye-catching designs that are available in the Gyptone 4-edge range means that specifiers can now create relatively low-cost monolithic acoustic ceilings, with stunning aesthetics, to complement and enhance prestige interiors, foyers or reception areas in any building.
As with all Gyptone products, the new 4-edge boards can be decorated and re-decorated without downgrading acoustic performance, enabling ceilings to be maintained in pristine appearance throughout their installed life.
Independent research has also underlined the positive environmental benefits of Gyptone ceiling boards, which have been judged to provide the best overall environmental performance of a range of gypsum, metal and mineral fibre alternatives.
The new boards, which are being launched during July, will be available nationally through leading ceiling distributors.
