Gyproc SoundBloc creates Arena of calm
Gypsum's high performance acoustic board, Gyproc SoundBloc, has been used to create an giant acoustic buffer area at Coventry City FC's new showpiece stadium.
British Gypsum's high performance acoustic board, Gyproc SoundBloc, has been used to create an giant acoustic buffer area at Coventry City FC's new showpiece GBP60 million stadium, to prevent crowd noise from the complex's 6,000 seat concert venue from disturbing tired guests slumbering next door in their converted executive boxes Designed by architects, RHWL, the imposing new arena will not only provide the Sky Blues with a world-class football stadium to replace Highfield Road, the team's home for the last 100 years, but will provide a focal point for a range of other activities, including a new super casino and a concert and exhibition venue

British Gypsum say 'Think sound - think blue'
Think sound-think blue', is the latest message from British Gypsum following a move to standardise the face colour of all products in the company's Gyproc SoundBloc acoustic board range.
Gyproc SoundBloc moisture resistant applications
British Gypsum has launched a moisture resistant version of its popular Gyproc SoundBloc board for lining bathrooms and kitchens in apartments.
There will also be 72 executive boxes, complete with pull-down beds, which will convert at night into one of the UK's most distinctive hotel venues.
Cutting through the complex is 'The Street', a 23.5 metre high passage that provides acoustic isolation between the football stadium and the concert area.
To meet the very high levels of sound insulation required to achieve the Rw 55dB on-site target, each wall of 'The Street' is a complex insulated structure lined each side with two layers of 15mm thick Gyproc SoundBloc.

'With a little help from' British Gypsum
British Gypsum rose to the challenge recently to help former royal butler, Paul Burrell, convert his former school into a high-tech community centre.
On the walkway side, the continuous Gyproc SoundBloc lining runs from floor to roof, supported on extra strong 126mm British Gypsum Gypframe 'I' Studs, cantilevered directly off the structural steel and blockwork.
On the reverse, a further two layers of 15mm are fixed to 70mm Gypframe 'I' Studs to complete the high performance specification.
Ceiling and partitioning Contractors, Taylor Hart , broke up the enormous expanses of lining with low-level bulkheads and other detailing created from Gypframe Steel Angle and studs, also lined with Gyproc SoundBloc.
In the giant arena area, a tall sliding partition has been constructed to separate the space for smaller events.
In-filling the area between the partition head and the roof, a 10.5 metre high fixed panel supported from a full width truss beam, has been created from Gypframe 'C' Studs, lined each side with Gyproc SoundBloc.
Elsewhere in the complex two layers of 12.5mm Gyproc SoundBloc have been fixed to each side of the separating walls between the complex's executive 'bedrooms' to prevent sound transmission; Gyproc FireLine has been used to line all kiosks in the concourse that virtually circles the stadium, and Gyproc DuraLine, a special high impact resistant plasterboard, has been used to line staircases to prevent damage form crowd surges on match days.
One of the largest contracts undertaken to date by Taylor Hart, the project has taken a team of up to 40 specialist drylining and ceiling installers almost 9 months to complete, using more than GBP600,000 of British Gypsum products, supplied through distributors CPD of West Bromwich.
Charged with bringing the project to completion in time for the start of the 2005/6 football season were Main Contractors Laing O'Rourke, working for clients Arena Coventry Limited, a joint venture between Coventry City Council and Coventry City Football Club.
