British Gypsum say 'Think sound - think blue'
Think sound-think blue', is the latest message from British Gypsum following a move to standardise the face colour of all products in the company's Gyproc SoundBloc acoustic board range.
The ceilings, therefore, had to meet two key criteria - they had to complement the modern styling and help to create the right acoustic environment for the open-plan office design.
The resulting installation has now won the company, and contractor Topfix Interiors of Bristol, first prize in a competition to find the best Arteco ceiling of the year, as judged by a panel comprising manufacturer British Gypsum, and external adjudicators.
The criteria for the award included the most innovative use of Arteco ceiling products, installation complexity and installation quality.
The Herman Miller HQ won on all three counts, beating more than 20 other short-listed installations from throughout the UK.
Suspended ceiling and drylining contractor, Topfix Interiors, installed Arteco Rigitone 8/18, an innovative perforated gypsum acoustic ceiling board that combines modern design with very high acoustic performance and a seamless finish.
The judges were impressed by the quality of the installation throughout the complex, particularly the suspended dropped features that had been designed to create an optimised acoustic environment for office and meeting areas.
Although relatively new to the UK, Arteco Rigitone ceiling boards are already widely specified for prestige applications, such as reception areas and conference rooms, to create visually interesting ceilings, which enhance the acoustic ambience of the space.
