British Gypsum's Kirby Thore works has helped Penrith's youth rugby teams put the town firmly on the map, with a near giant-killing double at the Lexus National Finals in St Albans on 7th April A number of employees at the British Gypsum works have close family connections with Penrith youth rugby, so when four of the teams, against all of the odds, qualified for the National Finals, they managed to persuade bosses at the works to help them on their way with a cheque for GBP350

Far from being overawed by the occasion, both the under-16s and under-17s teams came away with runners-up medals, whilst the under-14s managed two victories, including one over the eventual champions, before being beaten at the last hurdle.
Presenting the cheque, British Gypsum's Works Manager, Douglas Kinnear, said, "British Gypsum is always keen to support the local community".

"Reaching the National Finals was not only a major achievement, but also a great experience for the young players".
