Britton Price, the Hove-based lift company, offer architects working in the not-for-profit housing sector an innovative lift solution.

The company's X-IM lift is designed to provide a cost effective way of maximising the capacity of an existing lift shaft, without the need for structural alteration, making it ideal for use in care homes, hospitals and public buildings.

No planning permission or building control approval is required and by clever design Britton Price can reduce or even eliminate the need for additional building work.

The X-IM provides up to 50% more floor space than any other lift on the market using the same size lift shaft.

The X-IM achieves this extra space by using a direct acting hydraulic ram system underneath the car platform making it a very mechanically simple system - there are no ropes, pulleys or safety gear to complicate the lift installation facility.

The direct acting hydraulic ram mechanism, which controls upward and downward movement, is housed within a borehole made in the pit floor.

Britton Price's own team of expert installers are able to drill boreholes to a variety of depths and diameters to suit the type of hydraulic cylinder used.

In the Care Industry, user benefits include a larger lift car with automatic doors to give independence to the wheelchair user.

The X-IM provides a strong car, which has been independently verified as being able to withstand heavy traffic, and exceeds the latest British and European Safety Standards.

The X-IM needs only minimal load bearing walls as the patented system ensures that loads are transferred directly into the ground below and away from the shaft walls.

The power requirement can be selected to suit the customer's building without the need for expensive upgrades.
