Industry supports MMC showcase at OFFSITE2005
Leading modern methods of construction (MMC) exponents, including The Concrete Centre, Mtech, Ruukki, Terrapin and Van Elle, have announced their sponsorship of the MMC showcase, OFFSITE2005.
It has been designed with energy efficiency in mind - U-Values of 0.27 will be demonstrated, which should comply with any future change to Building Regulations.
An innovative feature of the Century house is that it has no internal load bearing walls.
This provides an internal space that can be easily changed for future occupiers - along with the associated savings in foundations.
The system uses I-beam technology in the floor to achieve a 'clear span' area.
The I-beam also features pre-service pop outs to facilitate the fitting of services on site thus making the build process more efficient.
Century Homes will also feature its unique pre-fitted wall insulation along with a new innovative exterior cladding system - novabrick - a brick system that has a traditional appearance, but uses no mortar and can be rapidly constructed.
