BREEAM awarded ISO 9001 accreditation

BREEAM scoops prestigious award
BREEAM has won the 'Best Program' Award at the influential 2005 World Sustainable Building Conference held in October in Tokyo.
It examines the extent to which that system contains customer-focused elements, including understanding needs, meeting requirements, keeping customers informed and measuring satisfaction.
"We felt that ISO 9001 was a natural progression," says Alan Yates, Technical Director of BREEAM.
"We wanted to demonstrate that our systems and procedures are rigorous, complete and transparent.
With the growth of the BREEAM and EcoHomes schemes, we found that we were increasingly being questioned on these issues.
The accreditation process has helped us to tighten procedures.
It covers all of our operations relating to assessor training, licensing, quality management, assessment recording and record keeping.
BRE is currently extending the ISO scope to include the assessment and certification of construction materials through BRE's Environmental Profiles scheme, and aims to achieve this within the next few months".
