Industry Concern Over New Energy Initiatives
Delegates at a seminar held at BRE, voiced their concerns about the implementation of the EU Energy Performance of Buildings Directive.
The Watertight conference at Watford on 7 March will bring developers, designers, manufacturers, planners, mortgage lenders and insurers together to debate and identify what further action can be taken to make the UK housing stock more flood resilient.
Looking at both new build and existing housing, discussions will focus on design and planning to reduce the incidents of water ingress, increase the robustness of materials and set standards for construction workmanship.
Delegates will hear from leading experts in flooding risk and management, and those responsible for delivering major regeneration.
The main objectives are to:.
* identify design solutions that meet the needs of all key stakeholders.
* encourage the building of partnerships to work together to minimise the impact on major new developments.
* promote the application of innovative approaches used in new build and the refurbishment of existing stock.
* raising awareness of solutions being used elsewhere in Europe and beyond.
