Britannia Lift has filled a repeat order of two bespoke scissor lifts for Ibstock Brick in Sittingbourne.

Britannia Lift has filled a repeat order of two bespoke scissor lifts for Ibstock Brick in Sittingbourne The original lifts, which were installed in 1996 as part of the factory's brick manufacturing process, proved to be so reliable that when the factory expanded earlier this year, Britannia was once again called on to supply the lifts

The scissor lifts, which are a bespoke design and each have a 2.5 tonne capacity and measure 3.5 metres by 900mm, are used to transfer finished bricks from a conveyor belt to specially adapted containers, which are then transported to a storage area by forklift trucks.

Bricks are loaded onto the lifts, which slowly lower as the weight increases in order to ensure that Ibstock personnel are working at a constant height, minimising strain and the risk of injury.

Ibstock are the first brick manufacturer to use scissor lifts in this way.

"The lifts installed by Britannia in 1996 continue to work like a dream in what is a very unforgiving environment," commented John Thickett, Ibstock Brick Factory Manager.

"Britannia's engineers are very professional and contact us whenever the lifts are due for a service." Britannia Lift Technical Director, John Patey, commented.

"It's always very satisfying when a customer comes back to us with a repeat order".

"We believe this clearly shows that not only are our products extremely well engineered but also supported by an exemplary after sales service.".
