DDA compliance can give access to new business
Britannia Lift's Technical Director, John Patey, discusses the options available to businesses as they look to become DDA compliant and the potential benefits this can bring.
The lift, which has a 1400mm x 900mm platform and 400 Kg lifting capacity, takes passengers 3.25 metres between two floors in the new club house.
Working closely with Pochin's PLC, who were the main contractors for the development, Britannia's engineers installed the lift in a shallow 85mm deep pit in the club house entrance before training club personnel in the safe and correct operation of the lift.
Karen Jones of Fallows Gowen Architects explained why Britannia was chosen for the project.
"Pochin's recommended Britannia as being an excellent company to work with and they designed and built a lift that exactly matched our requirements".
"The DDA regulations effect organisations and businesses around the country and we are filling an increasing number of orders for Ascenta lifts in sports clubs." With an emphasis on applications engineering Britannia Lift design, manufacture, install and maintain a range of high quality platform, goods and disabled access lifts.
Britannia Lift has been designing and manufacturing hydraulic lifts since 1963.
The result is a uniquely broad choice of heights, load bearing capacities, platform sizes, controls, entry configurations and other options - giving engineers unequalled flexibility in solving design problems.
Britannia Lift's entirely comprehensive service starts at the initial application investigation, drawing up specifications for equipment and making recommendations concerning builders' work.
The service continues throughout the manufacturing process and site surveys, culminating in delivery and installation to meet clients' needs.
Full after sales service and maintenance back-up is also available when required.
