BSI Business Information is implementing a new series of European Standards aimed at providing requirements and recommendations for all materials in contact with drinking water.

Whether you have responsibilities for local authority mains, building sites or public and private buildings, these publications need to be consulted.

To support the safety regulations BSI has just published and #8209; NEW BS EN 806-2:2005 Specification for installations inside buildings conveying water for human consumption.

Design applies to new installations, outside pipework, alterations and repairs.

It provides technical requirements so that: Appropriate pressures and flow rates are achieved Water quality at the tap is not contaminated or affected by the local environment The system from mains connection to tap avoids waste and leakage The system is efficient, convenient, safe, reliable and has a reasonable working life It is important that anyone currently using BS 6700:1997 is made aware that BS EN 806 parts 1-5 will eventually replace it fully.

It is intended for: Anyone currently using BS 6700:1997.

Building designers.

Installers of water supply systems.

Mains water suppliers including local authorities.

Those responsible for local authority mains, building sites or public and private buildings.
