With its Modular Fire Panel, FPA-5000, Bosch has now developed a highly modular system that uses standardised plug-in components - making it equally suitable whether for small commercial or council buildings, hotels and shops or much larger facilities such as hospitals etc with more than 4000 fire detectors.
The basis for this ground breaking modular concept is a flexible and expandable fire panel with a bus system for plug-in modules employing "click and go" technology.
In contrast to existing fire panels, the new Modular Fire Panel has no exposed circuit boards.

Using the "hot plug" principle, all system modules are automatically connected to the fire panel controller as they are inserted.
The modules are encapsulated to make them robust and to protect them from electrostatic discharge.
Even if the system is being upgraded while it is in operation, the possibility of coming into contact with live components is extremely remote.
Any module can be inserted in any slot.
The most important component is the LSN module (Local Security Network) for installing detector and signalling appliance rings.
A 2-wire cable is all that is required for an LSN loop/branch with 254 elements.
The cable carries both power and data.
Automatic and manual fire detectors, smoke extraction systems and signalling appliances are typical LSN elements.
Bosch modular fire detection technology is ideal both for large premises as well as smaller buildings such as country hotels and supermarkets.
Even the entry-level version has an easy-to-use panel controller with an interactive touchscreen, and two module rails with six slots.
This enables clients to configure a customized system containing up to 750 security network components.
An expandable upgrade version is available for larger buildings.
The basic version has ten slots and can be expanded in stages to 48 slots - sufficient for a network of up to 4064 detectors.
The alarms are initially output displayed on a large touchscreen, the operation of which is intuitive and interactive.
The screen displays status information and alarms with meaningful symbols and clearly comprehensible instructions.
Bosch has deliberately modularised the FPA-5000 fire alarm system.
All components can also be used in large or small systems.
A few spare standard modules are all that is needed for planning, installation and ongoing maintenance.
This considerably lowers spare part storage costs and installation time.
The building owner meanwhile profits from lower installation costs and no longer needs to provide any excess capacity.
The system remains completely open for future expansion, which can be implemented extremely quickly as a result of its unique modular concept.
