Seminars in session at BSEC
Organisers of Building Schools Exhibition and Conference (BSEC) highlight its free seminars led by representatives from Partnerships for Schools, which will run alongside the conference.
BSEC takes place from 11-12th February, and is aimed at local authorities, contractors and architectural practices.
Day one of BSEC will feature a seminar led by PfS regional operations director Michael Coleman mapping how new public and private sector entrants should approach the BSF programme along with explanations of the key elements of the process including Local Education Partnerships - the delivery model and timetable.
Jim Mason, BSF programme director from children's services at Nottingham City Council will lay out the process for remaining local authorities entering into the BSF programme, and Carrillion education director Robert Holt will reveal mechanisms for private contractors to win business.
Seminar sessions on day two will look at why BSF is more than just a buildings programme.
Liz Delany, PE and sports advisor from Partnerships for Schools will lead a session on the local authorities' 'strategy for change' process and what this means for the contractor, as well as how sub-contractors can get involved.
Chris Terry, design manager at Partnerships for Schools and Rebecca Bracey, PE and Sports advisor for Partnerships for Schools will then explore the role of the BSF PE and Sport Stakeholder Group within the design process.
This session will cover top tips for contractors delivering fit for purpose environments for PE and sport as well as demonstrating examples of good practice.
On the final day of the event, a seminar session led by Building Design editor Amanda Baillieu will highlight the tender opportunities the GBP1.9 billion Primary Capital Programme affords smaller, local architectural practices.
Expert advice will be provided by Jane Briginshaw, head of design at the Department of Children, Schools and Families and Cany Ash, partner at Ash Sakula Architects.
The above is simply a taster of the experienced individuals who have taken time to be a part of the BSEC seminar programme.
To attend one of the 45-minute seminars delegates must be registered to attend the exhibition.
