Safety Strategy For The Future
Safety and health at work has been identified by the European Union as one of the most important social policy sectors this decade.
This is a crucial sector: the NHS alone is the single largest employer in the UK with approximately 1.7 million employees.
If social care provision is also included, this figure rises to 2.6 million employees* (* source HSE).
Staff training and development in this area has clear and direct implications for the effective delivery of health and social care services to the wider community.
Richard Trist, BSC National Accounts Manager, commented: "We are delighted Claire is joining the team".
"This is a particularly challenging time - the need for organisations right across the spectrum to meet the highest standards of health and safety and environmental compliance has never been greater".
"This was reflected in the latest statistics for 2006/07 from the HSE which stated that there had been an 11% rise in fatal injuries".
"These statistics serve as a reminder of the continued need for public sector organisations to focus on health and safety performance".
