Buckleys launches new generation roof
testing kit
Latest generation of award-winning roof testing kit that enables contractors to detect flaws and guarantee quality of workmanship is being launched by Buckleys (UVRAL)
Buckleys' roof testing kits have been used in major construction projects throughout the UK and overseas for more than a decade - from large retail outlets like Manchester's Trafford Centre and Meadowhall in Sheffield to Arsenal FC's GBP390m Emirates Stadium in north London Contractors use the kit to check the integrity of new or existing single applied roof membranes

Could you be a PierTech Dealer?
Specialists in Helical piers and foundation solutions, PierTech Systems, have territories available both in the USA and Canada in which to become an official PierTech dealer.
Pinholes, flaws and other defects (called 'holidays') are found by passing a high voltage over the roof surface using a brush or roller electrode.
The equipment is suitable for detecting flaws in roof membranes that have a conductive backing, such as steel and concrete, foil-backed insulation boards or water.
Buckleys' Pinhole Holiday Detector kits are also used in the petro-chemical and pipeline construction industries and with surgical instruments where the quality of non-conductive coatings, linings and membranes is a critical issue.

The Kent-based company has spent two years researching and developing the latest generation of its testing equipment and is now launching the all-new Buckleys PD130.
Designed to be the firm's lightest and most versatile holiday detector, it has already proved itself in trials.
Buckleys' Managing Director Paul Hoveman said that the company had consulted customers on the design.
"Thousands of our kits are already in use around the world and have earned a reputation for reliability, accuracy and durability.
We are confident that the new PD130 will build on that and prove to be very popular with commercial roofing contractors," he said.
The PD130 weighs just 1.6kg and is carried in a shoulder bag.
It tests coating thicknesses of 16 microns to 14.4mm and has a long operating time (around 10 hours).
Other key features include:.
* Volume control for quiet environments.
* Audible and visible alarms when a fault is detected.
* Selection of electrodes and extension rods (all interchangeable with existing PHD kit).
* Adjustable output voltages from 1kV to 30kV.
* Displays electrode DC current and has adjustable DC alarm sensitivity.
Paul Hoveman says the new equipment is packed with user-friendly features.
It is easy to set the sensitivity level and the two-line LCD not only displays the test voltage but also the electrode current, allowing the operator to set very accurate alarm sensitivity thresholds.
An integrated test voltage calculator means no need for look-up tables.
The PD130 automatically calculates the test voltage once the operator enters the coating thickness in both metric and imperial formats.
The PD130 is supplied with high capacity D cell rechargeable batteries and the external charger allows charging from the mains or a car cigarette lighter socket (ideal for use while on site).
A curly low tension electrode cable ensures no more shocks from damaged cables as no voltage is generated in the base unit, only in the probe tip.
"The kit provides a robust method of quality assurance that allows roofing firms to guarantee the water-resistance of the roofs they install and the quality of their workmanship," adds Paul.
"It locates pinholes in dry weather conditions, enabling contractors to prove that the roof is fault-free at installation.
It addresses a common problem in roofing, where damage occurring to the roof membrane after installation is falsely attributed to the quality of the product or the company contracted to lay it.
"When a roof membrane is laid, the area often becomes a working platform for other construction activities.
Sharp debris, rubble or equipment stored in these areas can cause snagging to the membrane which is undetectable with a visual examination." The PD130 is micro-processor controlled and the test voltage can be set in kV or by using the NACE formula which has been pre-programmed.
The PD130 has been independently tested for safety and is fully CE compliant.
The basic PD130 equipment package is competitively priced.
Additional extension rods and electrodes, plus a hi-vis toughened transit case, are also available.
All Buckleys products are backed up with a fast repair and re-calibration service to enable customers to fully maintain their testing equipment, ensuring years of reliable service and great value for money.
