design

Designed around two apposing and concave curved forms that deliver a fluidity to the four bedroom house's internal and external layout, the Burlington cladding features to the building's entrance, two main side elevations and rear, which houses an integral garage.
What's more, the Burlington stone has also been used to clad the exterior of a feature staircase that leads off the building's entrance hallway, directly up and onto the roof terrace area.
With the design conceived by Preston-based Architect, Mark Heyes, the domestic residence commands views across the fishing lake; a facility created by the owners on what is an eight acre site.
Commenting on the decision to specify Burlington's Broughton Moor cladding, the owner of the new family property, Ray Porteus said: "Despite the fact that I operate a specialist brickwork contracting business, I've always wanted to use slate, so I suppose this is a dream come true".
"We are highly delighted with the visual appearance of the Burlington stone: both its texture and natural markings help enhance the overall finish, the appearance of which changes based on different light and weather conditions." Matching the quality of the property's external Burlington finishing material is an interior layout that oozes imagination and which embraces the latest technologies.
Complete with its four bedrooms, master bathroom and ensuite shower room located on the ground floor, the building is awash with features such as whole house surround sound.
Also featured on the ground floor is a large open plan kitchen and living area, complete with a state-of-the-art log burning stove.
Access to the property's basement is via a second stairwell - constructed using American walnut and the same material deployed to create the floor to ceiling height bedroom doors and architraves - which features stainless steel insets and mood lighting.
Complete with a second fully fitted kitchen and utility room, the main space here serves as a multi-purpose area that is used for dining, as a games room or home cinema.
As befits a property of this standing, and echoing the theme of the adjoining lake, externally there is a boat shaped swimming pool.
