Burlington and new trend in haute
horticulture
Celebrated designer, Arabella Lennox-Boyd, created as part of the Central District of Hong Kong's The Landmark project, with a blue/grey Kirkby slate paving supplied by Burlington Slate.

Burlington's Lakeland stone is renowned for playing a pivotal role in the award winning gardens of Chelsea Flower Show and 2008 is no exception.
With the overall design skilfully combining modern and traditional aspects of Chinese culture, Arabella has deployed the use of the Burlington Kirkby paving to anchor the design to the building.
In doing so, contrasting textures of Burlington's slate - supplied with both a line textured and flamed finish - have been used to create the hard paving area that has been formed in a grid pattern.
Providing the backdrop to a visual feast, the garden design also features a stylised velvety turf dragon that stretches across the garden around three living spheres of deep pink bougainvillea.
Also featured are two shimmering water features that serve to provide a modern element and reflect the sky above, together with six planters that are clad in the same Kirkby Burlington stone.
Positioned along the western boundary of the garden, the slate planters have been filled with bamboo, suggestive of the landscape outside the city.
Created to provide an area where people can enjoy an element of tranquillity within a busy complex, the rooftop garden forms an important part of The Landmark Complex, which features exclusive stores such as Asia's first Harvey Nichols and gourmet cuisine in the form of Joel Robuchon's L'Atelier restaurant.
