guides

The Builders Merchants Federation has developed and issued four new Selling Guides to help members increase their knowledge in specialist product areas and to provide an understanding of basic installation procedures The latest BMF Selling Guides, which cover Condensing Boilers, Showers, Access Chamber Covers and General Purpose Cement, are designed to provide clear, concise and relevant information, to help members advise customers and supply the correct products for each installation

Government changes to Part L of the Building Regulations mean that efficient condensing boilers must now be fitted in nearly all replacement installations.
The Guide covers common questions posed by customers, with answers and solutions, for example where to drain condensate, how to run flues and which type of heat exchanger to use.
It also provides clear illustrations of typical gravity draining condensate installations.
Showers.
How well a shower performs depends on the existing hot and cold water system.
The Guide explains which types of shower work best with the main types of system.
Access Chamber Covers.
Access covers for inspection chambers and manholes need to carry the same loads as car parks, driveways, carriageways or site haul roads.
It's essential to match products to the right situation and the BMF Guide gives details of the minimum compliance standards, with loading categories and typical applications they relate to.
General Purpose Cement.
The correct specification of cement is essential to ensure building performance.
The Guide explains the correct use and mixes of cement in concrete, mortar, rendering and screeds.
