Rogue Builders In 'Trade Association' Scams
Rogue builders are conning householders into hiring them by pretending to be members of reputable trade associations.
This will encourage individuals to adopt multiple energy saving measures, to help reduce 20% of their energy consumption.
BMF federation secretary, Peter Matthews commented: "We are advising householders throughout the UK that BMF merchants not only supply products to properly insulate their home, they also have knowledgeable staff on hand to advise on the most appropriate materials for each job".
Some of the basic energy saving measures the BMF has recommended include -installing loft insulation, fitting a hot water tank jacket, adding draught excluders to exterior doors, fitting thermostatic valves to radiators and installing energy saving light bulbs.
Energy efficiency will gain high priority in the lead up to June 2007 as anyone selling their home after this date will need an energy saving rating as part of their Home-Information Pack.
