BMF Conference To Discuss Insurance Premiums
Enormous hikes in premiums, often with only a few days notice, have hit the construction industry hard and the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) will be telling members how to avoid them in future.
BMF Business Support Guides follow the same user-friendly format as its hugely successful Product Selling Guides and can be kept in a specially designed ring binder.
Members can use them as a quick reference guide on different need to know subject areas including: health and safety, transport, commercial practice, environmental, employment, IT and communications, and security.
Guides on different topics will be issued to members every month.
Each guide includes summaries of important regulatory requirements, management briefings on best practice, plus operator procedural guidance using the BMF's simple 'do' and 'don't' recommendations.
They also offer readers further points of contact to obtain additional information or find out about relevant BMF training courses.
The first guides issued to members include the Safe use of forklift trucks, advice on Distance selling regulations for members that sell online or on the telephone to non business customers, information on Noise at work regulations, and Disputes and grievances, which offers guidance notes on employment procedures and regulations.
BMF managing director Chris Pateman said: "Our merchant members are always telling us how hard it is for busy branch managers to stay abreast of ever changing rules and regulations".
"So we came up with these Business Support Guides as a channel to supply all our members with essential business information in an easily accessible format".
"The guides have all been prepared in consultation with industry experts and we believe they will act as a valuable reference source".
In addition to hard copies, members can receive PDF versions via email for training or distribution within branches.
They can also access further information along with all back issues from the members section on the BMF website.
