BMF apprenticeship training for all ages
Government reforms to Apprenticeships, recently announced by the Learning Skills Council, include scrapping the 25-year-old age limit on individuals applying for apprenticeships.
Apprenticeship training is no longer the preserve of the young.
Now any merchant employee of any age can obtain appropriate qualifications from the BMF whilst on the job.
Doing away with the upper age limit has increased learning and skills training opportunities for all, as any employee with any merchant is now able to enrol in BMF Apprenticeship training to NVQ level 2 or level 3.
The programme attracts Government funding so all are able to obtain appropriate qualifications, on the job, from the BMF at no cost to the apprentice or merchant.
"The BMF is excited about the decision by the Learning Skills Council as the amendment has opened up doors for many employees who previously were not able to enrol in the Government funded Apprenticeship with the BMF.
It provides an opportunity for older employees to receive the relevant training putting them a step ahead towards progressing in their career whilst refreshing their Key Skills and knowledge and obtaining a recognised qualification," said Nina Royle, Manager - BMF Apprenticeship Programme.
The current BMF apprenticeship training available to NVQ level 2 or level 3, the equivalent of 3-5 GCSEs and 1 'A' level respectively, is Distribution and Warehousing, Customer Service, Business Administration, and Retail Operations.
