ABI Building Data Limited has launched a new title that is heralded as a one-stop resource centre for contacts, major developments and essential information on the UK Social Housing initiative.
Speaking about the scheme, Chris Hall, Director of BuildDesk, said: "Housebuilding is a dynamic process and the thermal performance of a building will change as specifications and materials change throughout its development.
Rather than employing the services of an external Competent Person, which could become expensive, housebuilders can become Competent Persons themselves.
The cost and time savings are obvious, especially if a building needs to be assessed several times as specifications change.
When you consider that there may be several buildings on a development, this cost could become prohibitive.
"The BuildDesk Competent Persons Training Scheme will give people the qualifications they need to become Competent Persons and is a totally neutral scheme as we will not make demands that trainees become tied in any way to our BuildDesk tools, which can be the case with other existing SAP training schemes.
As soon as details of the Competent Persons scheme are finally released BuildDesk will work quickly to ensure that the requirements are met".
The BuildDesk Competent Persons Training Scheme will be held at the company's offices in Pencoed, near Bridgend in South Wales and courses are estimated to last 2/3 days.
BuildDesk anticipates a large take up by representatives of architectural practices, housebuilders and developers, as well as individuals looking to forge a career as Competent Persons.
