BuildDesk announce the acquisition of the highly rated Carbon Checker software from Southfacing Services .
BuildDesk, a leading supplier of energy efficiency software tools, services and consultancy for architects, engineers and developers, is proud to announce the acquisition of the highly rated Carbon Checker software from Southfacing Services .
The acquisition means that BuildDesk can now offer a range of Government-approved software tools that can be used to perform the carbon dioxide emission calculations needed to demonstrate Building Regulations compliance for both domestic and commercial buildings.
Carbon Checker is a user-friendly interface to the Government's SBEM calculation engine software and allows designers of non-domestic buildings to assess whether their designs comply with Part L2A of the Building Regulations.
Southfacing Services (www.southfacing.co.uk) has a proven track record in developing low energy modelling tools as well as providing associated environmental design consultancy.
Carbon Checker was released last year, so it is already an established, tried and tested tool.
The Carbon Checker software is a natural partner for BuildDesk Energy Design, which incorporates SAP 2005 and allows users to calculate DER, TER and SAP Ratings for new dwellings according to Part L1A of the Building Regulations in England and Wales.
Speaking about the acquisition, Steve Channon of BuildDesk said, "We have been looking at the commercial building requirements for some time and we are absolutely delighted to be bringing on board the Carbon Checker software".
"BuildDesk now has a comprehensive range of solutions for architects, engineers and developers to enable them to achieve compliance quickly and easily in both domestic and non-domestic arenas".
Mark Thompson of Southfacing Services responded, "We are pleased that Carbon Checker will now be able to be offered as part of a full suite of energy modelling tools through BuildDesk".
"After devoting a considerable amount of time and effort to ensuring Carbon Checker is a useful and successful tool, we are confident that BuildDesk have the experience to take it forward".
"We wish them every success".
