Achieve compliance for three in one

A Building Product Design Group product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 3, 2008

Innovative barrier that combines effective acoustic, fire and damp protection in line with all relevant Building Regulations has been launched by Z-Led.

The Acoustic Cavity Fire Barrier with Integrated Cavity Tray provides up to 103 minutes fire integrity and provides complete damp protection whilst contributing to the reduction of flanking sound transmission in wall cavities.

Z-Led has developed two versions of the Barrier, horizontal and vertical.

Either variant can be supplied to provide either 30 minutes or 103 minutes' fire resistance: both ensure compliance with Building Regulation Approved Document B.

The acoustic benefit meets Building Regulation Approved Document E1, and can eliminate the need for on-site testing when installed in accordance with Robust Details.

Designed for use in double skin masonry or timber frame buildings, the system accommodates cavities ranging from 50mm- 100mm wide, and is available in three colour-coded cavity widths- 50-65mm in yellow, 66-80mm in blue and 81-100mm in white.

Environmentally friendly, the tray is manufactured from polypropylene and is re-cycleable, whilst the integral fire barrier contains glass wool made from naturally occurring minerals and recycled glass.

The combination gives a strong, durable product that is not easily damaged in transit or on site, will not rot, promote mould growth, or absorb any water.

Z-Led is part of the Building Product Design Group, which specializes in roofing and ventilation products.

A continuous programme of research and development ensures the company brings to market innovative yet practical products in line with changing requirements.
