A charity fundraising expedition to the South Pole received the official partnership of 8build , who has given the project and its aims their full support.

The expedition, titled Vision South Pole is being undertaken to raise public awareness of issues related to eye health, carry-out pioneering vision research and support the work of Guide Dogs for the Blind and the International Glaucoma Association.

The Vision South Pole team will embark on their 700mile journey across Antarctica in November this year.

"At 8build we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and the end quality of the spaces we fit out, refurbish and build for our clients, yet it is easy to forget that our world would appear quite different should our vision become impaired".

"The funds raised for the charities will help to provide services and support for those individuals with visual disorders" explains Kelly Hudson, Head of Marketing at 8build.

"We are delighted to be involved with this novel and exciting enterprise".

Preparation and training for the expedition is already underway, although the team are still some way from their GBP250,000 fundraising target.

Companies or individuals wishing to support the Vision South Pole project can do so by visiting the expedition website, www.visionsouthpole.org.

Information about glaucoma and other leading causes of visual impairment can also be found via the site.
