'Flame Retardants 2008' is the 13th Annual Conference with an international standing organized jointly by the British Plastics Federation and Interscience Communications

'Flame Retardants 2008' will take place in London at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre, on February 12th -13th 2008 Speakers at this Conference represent a 'Who's Who' of the fire science world as it relates to plastics

Under the leadership of Conference Chairman, Steve Grayson of Interscience, they include world class experts such as Marcello Hirschler of GBH International, Don Christian, the chairman of CEN 127, consultant David Buszard,Bjojorn Sundstrom of SP, Sweden, Christine Lukas of Dow and many more.

Regulatory developments will be at the forefront of the Conference along with innovations and the public issues connected with plastics in fire.

The Conference will explain the impact of REACH on the manufacture and use of flame retardants and this will be accompanied by an examination of regulatory developments in North America.

Continuous improvements in emission controls will be highlighted as several flame retardants reach the final steps of the EU Risk Assessment process.

New regulations put the spotlight on testing and there will be a session dedicated to this subject, examining current and future test methods such as the Cone Calorimeter.

Innovation is featured heavily with the focus on the flammability of nanomaterials and advances in manipulating flame retardant mechanisms in a range of materials.

Safety issues are dealt with in considerable depth with a review of the human costs of fires in the home.

There will be a Japanese perspective on urban fires and the flame retardancy of electrical household goods.

The Conference is accompanied by an exhibition and, as an added bonus to exhibitors and delegates alike, the Conference Dinner on the evening of 12th February will be served in the magnificent Great Hall of One Great George Street, located next to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre.
