BIW Accelerates Collaboration
The most widely used web-based collaboration platform for the construction industry, BIW Information Channel from BIW Technologies, can now deliver drawings and other documents much more quickly.
First comprehensive guide to 'extranets'
The UK's first book focused on construction project 'extranets' has been written by BIW Technologies' Paul Wilkinson.
BIW Information Channel has already been deployed on three major Dandara projects currently under construction: the Saint George's Island apartment project in Manchester, the mixed-use Spectrum scheme in Salford, and Glasgow Harbour Phase 2 residential development - collectively worth in excess of £150 million.
The BIW application is also being used by Dandara teams involved on a further six projects due to commence on site during 2006 and early 2007.
Dandara has also negotiated an option to extend the BIW deal by a further two years - "We first used the BIW system in May 2004 when we began construction of the Saint George's Island scheme," says Dandara Planning Manager Denis McHugh.
"However, we quickly realised that the solution could be deployed much earlier in the project process - supporting design team collaboration from the post-concept stage forward".
"Dandara wanted a platform to manage its developments throughout their life cycle, from land acquisition through to sale".
McHugh continues: "This corporate deal is the result of a lot of hard work by both businesses to understand each others' requirements".
"We worked closely with BIW to understand the technology and how we could use it; BIW studied our management processes and helped us to configure the Channel and its standards management module to exactly suit our preferred approaches, systems and procedures".
"We now have a powerful platform tailored to support Dandara's ambitious development investment programme.".
