Carmanah Technologies announce the appointment of Richard Sowter to Vice President of UK and Europe.

In this role he will lead the company's initiatives to fully develop the European market.

As Vice President of sales and marketing, UK and Europe, Richard Sowter is building upon Carmanah's early success in the UK transport industry and leading the Company's expansion efforts across its other vertical markets in Europe.

Mr Sowter is based in Carmanah's London, UK office.

Prior to joining Carmanah, Mr Sowter Sowter spent 11 years in senior management roles at BP Solar International, where he played an instrumental role in making the company a leading global solar global company with sales and marketing on four continents.

His successes include starting a joint venture partnership in India with TataBP Solar to manufacture and sell solar systems, creating a European distribution network, as well as launching BP Solar in the United States and serving as its President.

Mr Sowter was actively involved in completing acquisitions and other step change opportunities to develop BP Solar's business.

In addition to his experience with BP Solar, Mr Sowter has a wide ranging background from high value capital equipment to renewable energy with major multinationals.

He also has experience working with venture capitalists and even taking a small quoted company developing software through an IPO and subsequent trade sale.

Mr Sowter has a track record of business leadership and delivering growth.

This record, coupled with a wealth of understanding of trading in the international arena and developing new businesses in foreign countries, makes him a valuable asset to Carmanah's growing international operations.

Mr Sowter has traveled widely throughout his career and has lived and worked in the USA, India, and the Middle East.

He has an engineering degree from the University of Edinburgh and is a Fellow of the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management.
