To optimise architectural design and draughting productivity, incorporating product enhancements suggested by users, authorised Autodesk developers CADlogic Ltd have launched Version 2 of ADT Toolbox

This computer-aided design (CAD) software program increases the functionality and ease of use of the global, architectural 3D modelling system Architectural Desktop (ADT) by local tailoring to suit market needs in this country In other words, it enables ADT to maximise its potential and the utilisation of its functions under British conditions

ADT Toolbox is an intelligent, highly visual front-end for Architectural Desktop, with clear pictorial dialog boxes, for automating the creation of wall styles (whether external, internal - or industrial i.e cladded), wall end caps, door and window styles, lintels, sills and thresholds.

The images in the dialog boxes update instantaneously to reflect the selections and inputs you make.

Then the styles which you have generated are fully editable with standard ADT commands.

EXPANSION OF WALL DRAWING FUNCTIONS In Version 2 of ADT Toolbox, wall drawing functions are considerably expanded to add practical and aesthetic detail and realism, benefiting customers in response to their requests.

Accordingly, 3D cladding profiles, horizontal or vertical, can be affixed to any wall in ADT.

All you have to do is simply select the wall, and from the dialogue box choose the style of required.

A number of predefined cladding profiles are incorporated, and the interface gives you all the flexibility of creating your own too.

Moreover, footings are now included as an option in wall styles, giving complete dimensional control over the detail below ground.

Wall section drawings can be created automatically from any ADT Toolbox wall, even those with doors and windows.

These sections are constructed automatically from the enhanced modular wall sections in Version 2, allowing them to be further modified as required.

Where stud walls are incorporated in a building design, ADT Toolbox Version 2 can automatically add detailed stud partitioning to the wall, with the option to generate a bill-of-materials stating sizes and quantities for the timber framing.

Decorative 3D detailing is now offered for the external angles of walls (quoins).

You define the sizes of the members and wall, enabling the detail to be applied to the end or corner of that wall.

Stonework detailing is also provided around wall openings - sides, lintels and sills.

ADDITIONS TO SYMBOL LIBRARY Aside from wall drawing functions, ADT Toolbox Version 2 now gives you full 3D editable trusses selectable from a standard library of styles.

And you will find literally hundreds of new architectural symbols added to the library of 2D symbols, the majority of which are intelligent parametric symbols.

They enhance your designs with detail and realism.

2D TO 3D AND BACK AGAIN Last but not least, ADT Toolbox Version 2 will convert 2D drawings from CADlogic's widely used AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT architectural design extensions, Architect 2000 and LT Architect, into an ADT model.

And it will convert them in the opposite direction too, in all cases retaining the full intelligence of the original drawing.
