Camlock fights camera crime

A Camlock Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 2, 2005

Camlock's tough V Series lock is helping to keep a check on crime by preventing interference and damage to the electronic control equipment installed in CCTV camera towers.

The use of CCTV has grown significantly over recent years as the rise in anti-social behavior has fuelled the rise in urban crime.

This has necessitated the installation of 24 hour CCTV surveillance in many areas, both to monitor and protect against vandalism, criminal damage or more serious crimes.

The towers used to mount such cameras, while tough, are not immune to attempts to interfere with their operation since much of their electronic control equipment is typically located close to the bottom of the tower for ease of maintenance.

One company taking steps to prevent such interference is Altron Communications Equipment , the market leading manufacturer of CCTV towers and mounting equipment, who protect their control equipment from attack by fitting V-Series locks from security specialists Camlock Systems as standard.

Erol Barraclough, Managing Director of Altron Communications Equipment , says: "Our CCTV equipment protects over 600 town and city centres throughout the UK, as well some of the most strategic sites in the British Isles and Europe".

"To protect the control equipment in our towers we specified the V-series lock from Camlock Systems because it is a high performance, high specification product of advanced design".

"It is resistant to picking, twisting, pulling, punching, drilling and superglue and chewing gum attack - as well as to the threat posed by the use of unauthorised duplicate keys".

The V Series lock has over 4.75 million key variations and meets the requirements of both the OEM and end user for a cost-effective, high security lock which is suitable to protect not only CCTV towers, but also a wide variety of other on-street furniture and equipment.
