When buildings require a more unconventional support solution, Catnic has the expertise to design and manufacture special and fabricated lintels to suit a variety of shapes and sizes.
These include both the standard and bespoke fabricated arch lintel ranges for the use in more creative openings.
Catnic offers a standard range of ten arch lintels accommodating spans of up to 1200mm, and for wall constructions from 250 to 310 overall.
Although the majority of arches are semi-circular for use over bullseye or semi-circular windows and drive throughs, Catnic also offers gothic arches for Victorian style buildings and apex designs for triangular or diamond shaped openings.
There are limitless variations of sizes and styles available to order, the only constraint being the architect's imagination.
The company has the production capacity to fabricate virtually any arch specification required by the customer.
Typically, arch lintels are formed from a soffit, cut on a profile burner then rolled to achieve the required curve.
The spine, also cut on the profile burner, is shaped and welded to the already curved soffit.
Each lintel is manufactured to the highest standards and is hot dip galvanised after manufacture to BSEN 150 1461:1991 to provide ultimate corrosion protection to the finished product.
"Having manufactured 'specials' for a number of years, we are in an excellent position to accommodate nearly any specification," states Steve Morris, Catnic Technical Services Manager.
"These include curved on-plan for bays and openings in curved walls, eliptical, segmental arches and many other bespoke profiles." Catnic also offers a range of complementary accessories, including stop ends, cavity weep vents and Arch Centres, the latter allowing the easy construction of segmental arches in external cavity wall, providing permanent centering for brick arch construction.
