Catnic Litetile perfect roof for Rydens school
Catnic's steel roofing system, Litetile, harmonise the colours of the new and existing roofs effectively at Rydens School in Surrey.
When specifying the roof of the stables, it was clear that semi-industrial sheeting was not going to be suitable for the project.
What was required was a roofing system made from modern materials but which was also traditional in appearance.
In addition to looking right, time was of the essence and the roofing system used needed to be easy and quick to install, cost effective and low maintenance.

Being a dry-fixed system, Litetile is both simple to install and cost effective.
The choice was academic.
Specialist roofing merchants, AJW, were approached by the stable manufacturers to supply a roofing solution that would meet all these requirements.
Catnic's Litetile roofing system provided the perfect answer.
Available in a wide range of colours, textures and finishes, Catnic's Academytile, with a pan tile profile in Jasper Red, was selected for the project.
The terracotta finish creates the appearance of a traditional roof, whilst providing the benefits associated with modern roofing materials.
"We needed a roof that would blend in with the environment, but which was cost effective, easy to install and relatively low maintenance," said Pat Flicker of AJW.
"Catnic's Academytile provided us with the best solution." Fewer tiles make light work.
The light weight of Catnic's roofing system meant that fewer trusses were needed to support the roof - making it faster and easier to install.
Overall the project used some 1500 tiles, which were fixed with a simple and quick nailing system.
"There were some difficult details encountered during the project, including working around abutments to vertical timber cladding and on valleys, but these were overcome by using a tile bender on site and dressing the tiles, which avoided the need for foam fillers and mastic joints," continued Pat Flicker.
Clear winner.
"As far as we are concerned, Catnic's Academytile proved ideal for the stables, and I would definitely consider putting the system forward again for similar projects, including upmarket garden buildings." Catnic's Litetile roofing system has been used in a wide range of projects, both commercial and residential, for over thirty years.
Each tile comes in single lengths of 1.67 metres, covering an area of 0.56 m2.
Good pedigree.
Litetile has BBA certification and comes complete with a full 30 year product guarantee.
